BARACK OBAMA - JOBS
The Tortoise and the Hare
Toward the end of 2007 and mostly in 2008 the United States economy took a dive. In 2008 the job market went from having 137.5 million jobs in January to 136 million jobs, meaning that 524,000 jobs were lost (dailykos.com). This was right before Barack Obama took office in 2008. Then, when the well known and trusted bank Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy the economy took an even more of a drastic dive by losing 4.2 million jobs in the next six month (epi.org). The correlation between the economic crises and the job market means that for as long as the economy is in a recession, it will be extremely hard to have job growth. This topic mostly affects the lower and the middle class when it comes to choose a candidate to vote for in the upcoming election. Since many of the unemployed are from the lower and middle economic classes, they will want a candidate with a strong opinion and plans for the future on how to increase the job market.

I, Barack Obama came into the 2008 presidential elections promising five million new jobs toward clean energy. I also created a two-year plan to increase the United States economy and create four million new jobs in mostly construction, manufacturing and retail. According to the Huffington Post under the Obama administration, “133.300 million jobs in August, up from the 133.561 million in January 2009, when Obama’s first term began”(huffingtonpost.com). Overall, the rate of job creation has not been drastic it has increased steadily during the Obama administration. If elected in 2012, I will help save America’s automotive industry that will end up creating one million jobs. I will also pass laws making it harder for companies to outsource jobs to foreign nations by eliminating taxbreaks for them.

While Mitt Romney says that Obama Administration wants to strictly regulate the laws when it comes to labor, I have made it clear through programs like Dodd Frank that the regulations are needed. In The Dodd Frank Program I tried to regulate the financial industry by forcing banks to make a future plan if they fail. Though these regulations forced the banks to be more strictly supervised the Obama administration tried to make sure that other big banks would have a plan before they went into bankruptcy. While they both have goals to strengthen America’s economy through the middle class and by harnessing the power of green energy, Mitt Romney’s promise the people plans without a clear understanding of the power to affect the economy. When Mitt Romney promises that the United States of America will be energy dependant by 2020 he underestimates the amount of time, money and coordination it will take. With politics being the way they are currently, that neither the republicans nor the democrats can seem to make any compromise, the idea that rapid job growth or growth for any matter is unreasonable. However, the Obama administration has showed and provided a plan of how to steadily increase the job market. Though this plan does not show as rapid a rate of success as Romney claims he can provide, the Obama administration will at least be able to continue us in a progressive direction. Here by CNN is a fact check about Obama's job creation verses Romney's claims.
