One of America’s biggest foreign issues facing us today is China. China’s economy continues to grow stronger, which led them to pass Japan and become the second largest economy in the world, threatening America’s rank as number one. China’s economy continues to grow because American jobs are being shipped overseas, they manipulate their currency to benefit themselves and steal American technology. China still denies their citizens basic human rights and use excessive torture and execution. China continues to increase the size of their military and if China becomes the major power in the Western Pacific, it can close ports beneficial to American trade. It is imperative that China is dealt with now before they become to strong and we do not have the power to stop them. While discussing Chinese human rights, Hillary Clinton, our current Secretary of State, said, “Pressing on those human rights issues can't interfere with the global economic crisis, the global climate change crisis, and the security crisis" (PBS.org) Our current President, Barack Obama, does not deal with human rights issues as economic issues are put before them. For economic issues, Obama wants to increases taxes for companies that ship jobs overseas hoping it will bring back jobs to America. Obama has yet to label China as a currency manipulator and does not to stop the Chinese from stealing American technology but filed seven trade complaints against China instead. Although he filed complaints against China, he wants to become dependent on China. To try and become independent from foreign oil, President Obama wants to import rare earth minerals from China, so they can be used for products such as hybrid cars, even though prices have increased due to environmental restrictions. Even though President Obama is keeping military forces in the Western Pacific to make sure safe trade is being practiced, his military strategy is to cut the Pentagon budget by hundreds of billions of dollars, ultimately decreasing the size of the military. President Obama thinks this plan is strategic, as the United Stated has officially ended the war in Iraq. I, on the other hand, want to expand America’s naval presence in the Western Pacific to guarantee safe trade routes and set up border reinforcements to stop Chinese counterfeits. My plan is to have fifty vessels built, double the number of fighter squadrons and to start selling military supplies to Asian allies such as Taiwan. I do not want to increase or decrease military spending, but keep it consistent. I also want to build a strong alliance with India and Indonesia to discourage China from overtaking neighboring countries and to make sure trade routes stay open and prosperous. The first thing I plan to do when I am elected is to label China as a currency manipulator and accuse them for stealing American technology, which will also bring jobs back to America. If China’s currency rises, exports will become more expensive and more products will be made and bought from America. I want to expand offshore drilling so America can be less dependent on foreign oil. As for human rights, I will strongly support civil society groups inside China that promote women’s and minority rights, democratic reform, anti-corruption rights and religious freedom. I also want to install a stronger Internet freedom initiative so the Chinese reform groups will have better access to information and communication. My policy on China will better benefit America because more positive action will be taken. Unlike President Obama, I will help reform groups in China work against oppressive leadership and will help fight for their basic human rights. By not cutting back on military spending, which President Obama wants to do, America will be able to make sure safe trade is being practiced in the Western Pacific and to help lower the amount of Chinese counterfeits coming into America. It is estimated that counterfeit products cost our economy $250 billion in annual revenues and the loss of more than 750,000 American Jobs. Also, by selling military supplies to allies, it will not only help them protect themselves against being conquered by China, which will stop China from growing stronger in size, but will help strengthen our economy. By strengthening ties with allies such as India and Indonesia and other neighboring countries, a safe cooperation against China’s dominance will be formed which will also help with safe trade among nations that share a common interest and will intimidate China. President’s Obama’s plan to increases taxes for companies that send jobs overseas does not bring jobs back to America. All it does is punish companies for taking the cheaper option in a bad economy. By eliminating tax breaks, companies will just send more jobs overseas and buy more Chinese products because they are cheaper and will make up for the money that they have to pay in the increased taxes. I, however, will accuse and will work to stop China from manipulating their currency and stealing technology unlike President Obama who thinks filing trade complaints will ultimately stop China from these illicit activities. By forcing China to raise their exchange rates and strengthen their money, their exports will become more expensive and people will start buying and making more products in America. I also want to expand American offshore drilling so America can become less dependent on foreign oil. President Obama also wants to stop dependency on foreign oil but wants to achieve this by becoming dependent on rare earth minerals from China, which will ultimately help China’s growing economy and will increase overseas jobs. I will tackle issues with China head on because I have concrete plans that will be put into effect immediately unlike President Obama who works around the problem and will ultimately make America more dependent on China.
Why President Obama should not be re-elected!
